For the first time in 3 years: Amazon unveiled 3 new versions of Kindle Paperwhite with up to 10 weeks of battery life, for $140

Amazon today unveiled its first major Kindle Paperwhite ebook update since 2018, announcing 3 new models at once: the standard Paperwhite and versions of Paperwhite Kids and Paperwhite Signature Edition.

Kindle Paperwhite

Compared to the 6-inch previous model, the newer model has an increased display to 6.8 inches and thinner bezels on the sides. In addition, battery life has increased from 6 to 10 weeks. Charging is now via USB-C port, and it takes 2.5 hours to fully restore power.

In addition, the e-book has received IPX8 water protection, a warm light feature from Kindle Oasis to prevent eye fatigue, and a new processor that makes pages turn 20% faster. The Kindle Paperwhite costs $140.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition

This version will cost $190. it has the same features as the regular Kindle Paperwhite, only instead of 8GB it has 32GB of storage for even more e-books and audio books. There's also wireless charging support and automatic backlight adjustment that will dim or brighten depending on the ambient light level in your room.

Kindle Paperwhite Kids Edition

The children's version of the device includes the same features as the regular Paperwhite, but costs $159 and includes one year of Amazon Kids+, a kid-friendly cover and a two-year replacement warranty.

All three models will be available to order starting today, but sales won't start until October 27.
