Apple increased its share of the smartphone market by 3%, but still could not beat Samsung

Analytical agency Canalys published a report on the smartphone market in the third quarter of 2022. The list of leaders for the year has not changed.

Here's What We Know

Apple was able to increase its share more than the other manufacturers in the top 5. While it held 15% of the market in the third quarter of 2021, the Cupertino-based company's share rose to 18% in the reporting period. Despite this, Apple has remained in second place.

Samsung remains the market leader. The South Korean giant for the year increased its share from 21% to 22%. At the same time, the gap with Apple has decreased from 6% to 4%. Xiaomi with the "old" 14% continues to occupy third place.

OPPO and vivo have 10% and 9%, respectively, although a year earlier each had 11%. All other manufacturers together control 27% of the market compared to 28% last year. Overall, the market sagged 9%, but Canalys experts predict an increase in demand for smartphones over the next six months.
