Volkswagen electric cars in China may receive the Huawei HarmonyOS operating system

Volkswagen is looking for a partner for its electric vehicle software in China.

Here's What We Know

According to the Financial Times, one of the main contenders for the role is Huawei Corporation. If the companies agree, Volkswagen's electric cars in China will come out with the HarmonyOS operating system on board. Such a partnership will allow the German manufacturer to integrate local services into its cars.

Flashback

Huawei introduced HarmonyOS in 2019 after coming under US stations. The system was originally positioned as a replacement for Android in smartphones, but now the OS can also be found in TVs, electric cars and home appliances.
