Xiaomi 15 series will get a unique ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology

Chinese brand Xiaomi is working on its new Xiaomi 15 series of smartphones, which will include the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro and 15 Ultra models. These devices are reportedly testing a unique ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology, which is a significant improvement over the traditional optical scanners used in most smartphones.

Here's What We Know

After officially launching the Xiaomi 14 Ultra last month, the Chinese brand has now started working on its new flagship Xiaomi 15 series. The smartphones in this series are reportedly testing a unique ultrasonic fingerprint feature. This is written by a popular Chinese tech blogger @DigitalChatStation. According to him, the Xiaomi 15 series is testing a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint function "Huiding". This process will enter the new hardware NPI (New Product Introduction) stage in April. The term "Huiding" could mean it's a solution from China's Shenzhen Huiding Technology Co., Ltd.

Ultrasonic fingerprint scanners use high-frequency sound waves to create a three-dimensional map of a user's fingerprint, providing a higher level of accuracy and security. Optical fingerprint scanners, on the other hand, capture a two-dimensional image of the fingerprint using light, making them typically faster but potentially more vulnerable to counterfeiting.

The Xiaomi 15 series is set to hit the market later this year and will feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which will offer a significant performance boost. The devices are also expected to have improved display quality and battery efficiency as well as other innovative features.
