While North Korea prepares for its seventh nuclear weapons test, a user in South Korea was sentenced to four years in prison for methamphetamine harassment. Don't we seem to have the two Koreas mixed up?

Here's What We Know

A 30-year-old resident of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, will spend four years in prison for sexually harassing teenagers on a virtual reality platform. He communicated with the teens for about four months, posing as their peers and asking them to send photos of intimate content.

The district judge emphasized that the crime was particularly serious because the victims were children who could not defend themselves and hold the defendant accountable. In reaching its decision, the court took into account the fact that the defendant had pleaded guilty and the photos had not been made publicly available or used for commercial purposes.

Now the South Korean resident will have to undergo a program of treatment for sexual deviations (80 hours). In addition, after four years of imprisonment, he will not be able to get a position in organizations which work with children. This restriction will be in effect for seven years.
