Flappie protects your home from your cat bringing home mice, birds, and other prey. Powered by artificial intelligence, Flappie reacts instantly and closes access when your cat has prey in its mouth. Using the Flappie mobile app, the user can receive notifications with videos and photos of the cat, as well as manage all the cat door settings. Flappie's developers emphasise that prey recognition data is stored directly on the device itself, which guarantees a high level of confidentiality.

The device is equipped with an OLED display to show settings and operation status. The Flappie app allows you to collect hunting statistics for each cat (if there are several), so the gadget can recognise cats using computer vision. Sales are scheduled to start in spring 2024. The estimated price of the product is CHF 370 (USD 405).

About the developer

Flappie is a project that redefines the concept of a cat door that can be installed on the front door and provides a safe and prey-free environment for a domestic cat. Founded in 2019 by twins Oliver and Denis, Flappie was born out of a desire to solve the eternal problem of the "wildlife species lottery" at home. Many people who own cats are looking for a way to eliminate the possibility of unwanted prey entering the home.
