From June 26 to July 3, a speedrunner marathon was held in the American city of Minneapolis - Summer Games Done Quick. During the event, it became possible to collect $3.01 million for charity.
To be more precise, 23,947 donors gave a total of $3,016,200. The largest donation was $238,310. The funds will be transferred to a non-profit organization "Doctors without borders".
In total, during the marathon, the participants managed to demonstrate 134 runs, including passing Elden Ring, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Dread, Final Fantasy VI and Mass Effect. Watch the videos on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.
Past SGDQ turned out to be the first "live" event since time of Awesome Games Done Quick, which took place in 2020 — after it, events were held in digital format due to the pandemic.
The next speedrunner marathon is scheduled for August 21-27. The show called Flame Fatales will be dedicated to fast passing by women.
