After PUBG became free, the influx of players in it increased to 80,000 daily

Player Unknown's Battlegrounds or simply PUBG: Battlegrounds was a phenomenon of its time, as it popularized the genre of games like Battle Royale. Channels dedicated to the game grew at a tremendous rate, and streams gained a large number of viewers. But nothing lasts forever, and the hype around the game (as well as the number of players) slowly began to wane. And in 2021 it was only a shadow of its previous popularity. That's why the developers decided to take a desperate step - to make the game free. And we have to say that it was a success!

According to financial report for the first half of 2022, published by game developer Krafton, there were about 80,000 people joining every day since the game went free in January, and average revenue per user increased by 20% (per quarter).

The publisher's earnings report also confirmed its commitment to Unknown Worlds' new IP, which will be unveiled at GamesCom, as well as Striking Distance Studios' Callisto protocol. There, the release of the project, which is based on the Korean novel The Bird That Drinks Tears, was also reconfirmed.
