Microsoft adds a new volume mixer to Windows 11, almost like EarTrumpet

Microsoft is adding features to Windows 11 that are very similar to those from the third-party audio tool EarTrumpet. Windows insiders have noticed that the latest build of the system includes a new volume mixer that provides quick access to switching audio outputs and program volume controls right from the taskbar.

These same functions are performed by EarTrumpet, which was created five years ago and has improved the experience of many users. Ironically, it was then called "the program that Microsoft should have created for Windows 10".

EarTrumpet is being developed by Microsoft engineers Dave Amenta and Rafael Rivera, who tweeted this week, "Oh snap. Microsoft is catching up to EarTrumpet."
