BAE Systems may start producing L119 howitzers in Ukraine

BAE Systems expects Ukraine to sign a contract for the production of 105 mm L119 guns.

At a meeting with UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn discussed the production of L119 howitzers in Ukraine, which will be carried out by BAE Systems Platforms & Services UK.

The contract to start production has not yet been signed, as Ukraine is waiting for a new financing package to cover the costs.

Negotiations on the localisation of L119 production began last summer, when an agreement was signed between Ukraine and BAE Systems. Today, intensive work continues to implement the project.

The L119 howitzer is a British artillery system designed to support infantry. It is used for precision strikes over long distances. It also has a 105mm calibre and can fire various types of artillery shells, including precision-guided and GPS-guided. The L119 is quite reliable and durable.
