Steam Deck with OLED screen is the final version of the first generation console, and Valve is already thinking about Steam Deck 2

On November 9, Valve presented Steam Deck with an OLED screen and increased storage capacity. Sales will start on 16 November, and now the portable console is getting even more attention. So Axios spoke to Valve designers to find out more about the Steam Deck.

Here's What We Know

Valve designer Lawrence Yang said that the Steam Deck with OLED screen is the final version of the first generation of this console. And if the company could have released the OLED version immediately, it would have done so, but then the release of the console had to wait even longer.

Yazan Aldehayyat, another designer at Valve, said that software optimisation can make Deck even more optimised, so it is too early to say that the console has used 100% of its capacity. He also said that Valve helps with the optimisation of games on the console. Developers come to the company before the release of a game and ask for help in making the game work better on Steam Deck. And Valve cannot refuse to help.

The company is also already thinking about Steam Deck 2. But right now, the chips that could help create a more powerful console won't work well enough in a portable device. But the team believes that in the next two or three years, something will appear that will be suitable for Steam Deck 2.
