The UK has received the first Swedish Archer howitzer to replace the AS-90 artillery systems that were transferred to Ukraine

The UK Army has started receiving Swedish Archer self-propelled howitzers. The first artillery system has already arrived in the United Kingdom.

Here's What We Know

The UK is one of the donors of self-propelled howitzers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The AS-90s were sent from the misty Albion to Ukraine. As a replacement, the United Kingdom chose Archer.

Ukraine received 32 AS-90 self-propelled artillery units. For replacement, the UK ordered 14 Archer systems in early 2023. The first self-propelled howitzer arrived in the country last week. The agreement also includes logistical support, ammunition and training.

BAE Systems Bofors had approximately six months to build and deliver the first artillery system. The remaining Archer howitzers will arrive in the UK by the end of spring next year.
