South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has published an ambitious transport development plan.

Here's What We Know

In 2025, the country will have its first buses with SAE Level 4 autonomy. This means that the vehicle must be equipped with traditional means of control, but can perform all operations without a driver.

Owners of cars with the fourth level of automatic control system will also be able to use all the features of the car, but only in 2027. But by the end of this year, South Korea promises to legalize the third level of autonomy.

In a few years, South Korea plans to launch air passenger transportation services with the help of an electric-powered air cab. Initially, people will be able to get from metropolitan areas to airports in this way. By 2030, Korea wants to create a unified transit system for the whole country.

Finally, by 2040 South Korea intends to start operating a pipeline system for passenger transportation. But this project has not yet been officially approved. But it is known that cargo can be transported via pipes with a maximum speed of 1200 km/h.
