Analysts: smartphones with screens that can "self-heal" will appear on the market in the next 5 years

Analysts at CCS Insight predict that devices with "self-healing" screens will hit the smartphone market by 2028.

Here's What We Know

Back in 2013, LG advertised the G Flex smartphone's self-healing back panel technology, but how it worked remains a mystery. Analysts say that in the next 5 years this will become a new trend.

Manufacturers may use a special nano-coating of the display, which will be able to regenerate when interacting with the environment. But we are talking only about minor cosmetic scuffs. If the gadget is completely broken screen - magically without the intervention of repairers it will not "cure".

By the way, some companies already have patents for such technologies. In 2017, Motorola filed a patent for a screen made of a "shape memory polymer" that can self-repair when scratched. Apple also previously received a patent for a foldable iPhone with a display cover that self-locks if damaged. At the same time, they don't have any finished products yet.
