According to Kongsberg, Australia is buying Norwegian NSM anti-ship missiles.
What we know
Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace signed a contract worth $71,000,000 (approx. $48,500,000) with Australia to produce NSM anti-ship missiles. They are to be installed on Hobart class destroyers and Anzac class frigates.
The NSMs will replace the old Harpoon missiles. By the way, Oleksiy Reznikov: Ukraine has already received M109 self-propelled guns and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
For those who do not know
NSM (Naval Strike Missile) is an anti-ship missile developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to replace the Penguin missile. It can be used against ground targets. The contract for the production of the first missiles was signed in June 2007. The NSM is made of composite materials. It can perform anti-aircraft maneuvers and jam the target. This makes it difficult to intercept with an air defense system.
