Rumor: Poland will receive about 300 Abrams tanks from the U.S. and will give 232 PT-91 tanks to Ukraine

Poland may receive about 50 old Abrams tanks from the U.S.

What we know

Information was shared by Polish analyst Jarosław Wolski. That is if we don't count the 250 Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 tanks that Poland have already ordered. Thanks to this decision, the country's armed forces will be able to donate old PT-91 models. Presumably, they will then go to Ukraine. Incidentally, Poland now has 232 PT-91 tanks.

Recall, PT-91 is a Polish main battle tank based on a licensed version of the Soviet T-72M1. The first PT-91 prototypes were made in 1993. The base version of the tank was serially produced at the Bumar Labendy factory from 1995 to 2002. The main feature of the PT-91 is the Twardy protection using ERAWA's own active armor. It has 394 blocks. They cover the front of the hull and turret. These blocks are placed almost without gaps to each other. Tests have shown that ERAWA blocks increase the protection of a tank by 30-70% depending on the type of projectile.
