Italy and France approved the supply of SAMP/T Air Defense Systems to Ukraine
The Armed Forces of Ukraine may receive French-Italian SAMP/T air defense systems in the near future.
Here's What We Know
Italy and France have resolved difficulties that prevented the delivery of anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. This is reported by the French publication Challenges, referring to the statement of the French Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins.
The SAMP/T air defense system is intended to destroy air targets at an altitude of up to 25 kilometers and at a range of up to 100 kilometers. The launcher of the antiaircraft missile system can fire eight Aster-30 missiles within 10 seconds.
SAMP/T is developed by MBDA Italy, MBDA France and Thales. The surface-to-air missile systems are in service in only three countries. In addition to France and Italy, Singapore is an operator of SAMP/T.
