Colombia considers F-16 Fighting Falcon, Eurofighter Typhoon, Gripen-E and Tejas Mk1 fighters to replace older IAI Kfir aircrafts
The Colombian Air Force plans to give up old Kfir fighters from Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).

Information about the abandonment of the IAI Kfir appeared back in February 2022. They were accepted for service in 2011, although the Israeli company's aircraft themselves are almost 40 years old. The Air Force has 19 active fighters, although 24 were purchased.
Colombia is considering several alternatives from India, Spain, the United States and Sweden. The main candidates to replace the IAI Kfir are the F-16 Fighting Falcon from Lockheed Martin. By the way, Israel also offered the services of F-16 fighters, which were purchased from the United States.

In addition to the Fighting Falcon, Colombia has several other options. In particular, the Indian Tejas Mk1, the Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon and the Swedish Gripen-E. One of the main tasks of fighters in Colombia will be the fight against drug traffickers who transport drugs using civilian planes.
How much money the Colombian authorities are planning to allocate for the purchase of fighter jets is unknown. Now this is the biggest problem for the country. It is possible that Colombia will negotiate a long-term loan with the supplier.
