The Iranian military has developed a new version of the Khorramshahr ballistic missile. It is called the Khorramshahr-4, but is also known as the Khaibar.

Here's What We Know

Local media on May 25 showed a video of the test of the new ballistic missile. It has a launch range of up to 2,000 km and is equipped with a 1,500-km warhead. The media describe the missile as both a tactical and a strategic weapon.

The Khorramshahr-4 is equipped with an improved guidance system. In addition, the upgrade brings a mid-flight control capability. The military is able to quickly prepare a ballistic missile for launch, as it can be stored for years without draining the liquid rocket fuel.

Iran's development and proliferation of ballistic missiles poses a serious security threat to the region and the world. The statement was made by the spokesman for the US State Department, Matthew Miller.
