Potty with legs: Panasonic introduced the Umoz eco-robot made of moss, which moves around the house in search of comfortable conditions

The Japanese corporation Panasonic presented its unusual development - a small eco robot called Umoz. Its main task is to make your home or office more green and friendly.

What it is?

The robot looks like a pot for a house plant, which independently moves around the room on its tiny tentacle legs. It seems that the inspiration for its developers were the science fiction films of Hayao Miyazaki (Hayao Miyazaki).

The outer part of the robot is covered with moss, which is widespread in Japan. But the main feature lies in smart functions: the device moves around the room on its own in search of the most comfortable conditions for the plant. For example, in sunny weather, the robot will find a shade, and in wet fog, it becomes the most mobile and active — such conditions are favorable for moss.

The developers claim that eco robots Umoz can live comfortably in private, work and public spaces. The main condition is to water it regularly.

“Most of us think of moss as something inanimate, which cannot be interacted with, but in fact it is a living being that adapts to the environment. Miniature Umoz robots mimic this connection or addiction. The algorithms of their behavior are also programmed for each person differently. Some will move towards sources of light or moisture, others will move away from them. The goal is to improve people's perception of their surroundings and awareness of nature," explained the director of the Panasonic Aug Lab.
