Melania Trump 'Bought Herself' NFT Collection for $170,000

Investigators accuse Melania Trump of "self-purchasing" the NFT collection in order to increase its value.

What is known

Fictitious trading is prohibited in the securities market, but is a very popular type of trading in non-fungible tokens due to the lack of regulation. For example, users of the LooksRare marketplace sold almost $11,000,000,000 worth of NFTs to themselves in order to promote the site.

Now for Melania Trump. The former First Lady of the United States auctioned the Melania's Vision collection on the Solana blockchain. She wanted to earn $250,000 in the Solana cryptocurrency, but due to the depreciation of 1,800 SOL coins turned into $170,000.

The experts analyzed these transactions and came to the conclusion that the address from which 1800 SOL was paid was previously funded with the same 1800 SOL. Moreover, after the auction, funds were already sent to this address from the wallet, which is associated with the creator of the NFT.

Melania Trump's office denies the allegations and says the deal was carried out by an "outside buyer."
