Gourmet: Apple will introduce 7 new Mac models with proprietary Apple Silicon processors this year

A few years ago, Apple made the decision to ditch Intel processors and move Mac computers to proprietary Apple Silicon. Over time, the company is gaining momentum, and this year we are waiting for a large number of powerful new products.

What to expect?

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicts in a new report that there will be as many as 7 new Mac models in 2022 with the new M2 chip, last year's M1 Pro and M1 Max, and the super-powered version of the M1 Max. This:

New Mac mini with M1 Pro chip

  • 13 inch MacBook Pro with an M2 chip that will replace the 2020 model and will be lower 14 inch And 16 inch MacBook Pro in line
  • Mac mini with M2 chip
  • 24 inch iMac with M2 chip
  • Updated MacBook Air with M2 chip
  • Larger iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chip options
  • Mac Pro, the first with Apple processors, comparable in power to two or four M1 Max processors

The first presentation is expected on March 8, and it should present the new entry-level MacBook Pro and Mac mini. The next event, according to Gurman, will take place in May or June, and it will focus on the iMac Pro, as well as the new Mac Pro with "heavy duty versions of the M1 Max."

“Apple will want to enlist the support of the developers of the ultra-powerful Mac Pro chips, so I assume that the company wants to introduce this machine as early as the WWDC event in June and release it in the fall. An updated MacBook Air would be a nice addition, so it makes sense to release it around this time of year, even if Apple originally planned to release it in late 2021 or early 2022." says Mark Gurman.

Finally, the Pro and Max versions of the M2 chip should be launched in 2023 along with the first M3.
