Following the example of Apple: Tesla removed the charger from the delivery of its electric cars

A few years ago, Apple removed chargers from its gadgets, after which other manufacturers followed suit. Now Tesla has announced a similar decision.

What does it mean?

Now Tesla electric vehicles will be shipped without a charger, you will have to buy it separately.

Incidentally, Tesla previously included a charging cable with both a NEMA 14-50 connector (Level 2) and a regular outlet connector (Level 1). Later, the automaker decided to ditch the NEMA 14-50 connector from the included kit and included only the NEMA 5-15 adapter, which is designed for a regular outlet. Now these cables are sold separately: the cost of the first is $275, the second is $400.

However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised to cut prices by $75. It is upsetting that at the moment there is no one or the other charge on sale on the official website.

As Musk explained, they decided to abandon the charger included in the package, because not many car owners used them. He seems to be referring to the fact that many use Tesla Supercharger stations.
