The Jason meme came about after a scene in Heavy Rain where Ethan loses his son and starts running around the mall. At this point, a prompt appears on the screen: "(X) Jason!" — by pressing X, Ethan shouts his son's name. It looked silly and turned into a joke back when Heavy Rain was released. Around the same time, another variation appeared - Shawn!, only in the form of a funny bug.
