Ukraine received 50-60 Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks, but there will be more
Yesterday, on July 25, we wrote that Ukraine received Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks. Now it became known how many we received.
How many?
As Visegrád 24 writes, citing Polish analysts, a batch of 50-60 tanks has arrived in Ukraine so far. But later we shall receive all 232 tanks PT-91 Twardy, which were in service of the Ground Forces of Poland.
As a reminder, the PT-91 is a Polish main battle tank based on a licensed version of the Soviet T-72M1. The first prototypes of the PT-91 were made in 1993. The base version of the tank was serially produced at the Bumar Labendy factory from 1995 to 2002. The main feature of the PT-91 is the Twardy protection using ERAWA's own active armor. It has 394 blocks. They cover the front of the hull and turret. These blocks are placed almost without gaps to each other. Tests have shown that ERAWA blocks increase the protection of a tank by 30-70% depending on the type of projectile.
