Google Pixel phones are getting Android 13 today

Google's Android 13 is now out of beta and will begin rolling out to Pixel devices today, with Samsung, ASUS, Nokia (HMD), Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Sony, Xiaomi, and other manufacturers planning to release the update later this year. The most recent version of Google's mobile operating system adds more precise privacy settings as well as a new photo picker, Bluetooth LE audio support and other features. Those who want even more personalization from Google's Material You theme creator may appreciate the additional personalized app icons.

The most notable upgrade is messaging app streaming, which will allow you to beam your messaging apps from your Chromebook so you can talk with your pals on it. Google claims that Messages "and many of your other favorite messaging apps" are compatible with this feature. Inter-device copy and paste will soon be easier, with Google claiming that you'll be able to "copy material — like a URL, photo, text or video - from your Android phone and paste it onto your tablet."

There are a few unique characteristics that make Android 13 feel new, including an animated progress bar in the updated media playback box on the lock screen and a QR code scanner shortcut. Many other enhancements are planned for the L version of Android, which is meant to make using larger screened devices easier.

You'll also find HDR video support, a Google screen reader for Talkback braille display support, and an updated media output switcher on third-party camera applications. The firm supplies more information on what has been modified on its website, so go there to learn more.
