Lithuania will receive upgraded UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters produced by Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin has sent UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters for modernization before handing them over to Lithuania.

What we know

Two years ago, Lithuania agreed with the U.S. to buy four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to replace the old Mi-8. The contract amounted to $213 million, with the U.S. government allocating an additional $30 million to support the project.

Helicopters with additional equipment will be handed over to the Lithuanian Air Force in 2024, and meanwhile they will undergo modernization at the Lockheed Martinplant in Alabama. The first three units of UH-60 Black Hawk have already gone to the plant, and the fourth will be delivered at the end of this month.

Note that the Lithuanian government is worried about the security of the country because of the border with the Kaliningrad region. In this connection the authorities will allocate €1 billion for the purchase of the American and German arms within several years.
