Todd Howard told more about Starfield: dialogue system, knowledge of quantum physics and games that inspired the developer

In a recent Constellation Questions video, Bethesda game designer Todd Howard shared many interesting details about the upcoming Starfield space journey.

Here's What We Know

Todd said that the game that inspired him the most to create Starfield is the space simulator SunDog: Frozen Legacy from 1984. And the role-playing game Traveller in 1977.

The developers are trying to make the game "hard science fiction". Howard even read papers on quantum physics to apply knowledge in the game. Although some elements of course had to be abandoned in order not to make the game too hardcore.

Character features that the player will choose have strengths and weaknesses. However, at any time in the game they can be changed without starting a new passage. To do this, the game will have special quests that can change the character and game activities.

They also talked about dialogues. They will resemble classic Bethesda games. Howard added that Starfield will have more than 250 thousand lines of dialogue. For example, Fallout 4 had 110 thousand lines.

The system of dialogues was also demonstrated. Howard described them as a mini game that does not take you away from the gameplay. Players will have special points that need to be spent when communicating.

Flashback

Starfield is the first new universe from Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years. In this role-playing game, which takes place in space, create any character and explore it with unprecedented freedom, embarking on an epic journey to answer the greatest mystery of mankind.
