The official PlayStation blog has published an interview with the author of A Plague Tale: Requiem Kevin Choteau. He talked about how the team worked on the sequel to Innocence and what innovations appeared in the game.

Here's What We Know

The first thing they wanted to change in the game was the gameplay. Innocence was a corridor game, with only one way to approach the situation, the developers wanted to fix it. They created much wider open areas where you can play the way you want.

Technically, the game has become better. On PS4, the game could have about 5,000 rats on the screen at the same time, and on PS5 - 300,000. This allowed to create huge rat tsunamis that are now destroying cities.

In general, rats in the game have been given a lot of attention. They are able to better avoid obstacles to get to the player, they are more mobile and aggressive. When the gamer stands near the fire and tries to stay away from them as far as possible, they turn around trying to find the best way to get to the target and kill it. They are also able to climb up fabrics, so we are no longer safe in high places. This is both useful against enemies and dangerous for us.

The path Amicia chooses will have a great impact on her thinking and the evolution of who she can become, as well as her relationships with others.

Amicia is not yet a warrior, but she is no longer a young lady. She is in the middle between these two types. Therefore, she is not very effective in battle. She is vulnerable, does not know how to use a sword and can easily die. Amicia is really in between these two worlds. Depending on the situation, she can sometimes be a very adult or a child.

Hugo has also undergone changes. He understands better what happened to him and can start to feel the rats inside him. He can kill easily, much more effectively than his sister, and has dangerous and unlimited power. So for Hugo it's about keeping a balance. He has this power, but he and Amicia don't want to use it. It is a terrible and ugly ability that can also harm him. But sometimes it benefits them. They both learn to play with fire, which sometimes leads to dangerous consequences.

In conclusion, Choteau said that he is proud of his small team of 70 people because they are advancing even further every time. He is happy and proud of what they have achieved in the last three years. And he wishes all the best for the players. Kevin hopes they didn't disappoint the fans and gave them the continuation they wanted and deserve.
