New iPhones will become more expensive - Apple will not be able to buy Chinese 3D NAND memory because of sanctions

Future Apple smartphones may become more expensive due to U.S. sanctions against Chinese semiconductor manufacturers.

Here's What We Know

Because of the new wave of export restrictions, which were introduced by the United States, Apple will have to refuse to use memory chips from China. The Cupertino-based company had planned to establish a supply of 3D NAND memory from YMTC, but now it will have to look for an alternative.

The 128-layer NAND memory made by YMTC could take 40% of the total amount of memory for the iPhone. One of its advantages was price. The YMTC company's chips are 20% cheaper than their analogues. And according to some reports smartphones with Chinese memory were to be sold internationally.

Now Apple is forced to look for new suppliers, not from China. For example, Samsung. Also another alternative could be another South Korean company - SK Hynix.
