Microsoft will finally shut down Internet Explorer in February 2023

Microsoft has announced the final closing date of the Internet Explorer browser.

When We Can Expect It

So, Internet Explorer 11 will be completely shut down in Windows 10 on February 14, 2023. This will happen with the Microsoft Edge update: when trying to open Internet Explorer, the user will be automatically redirected to Microsoft Edge with automatic transfer of accumulated data. This will include cookies, caches, passwords, and more.

According to the company, this should improve user interaction and make the transition to Edge easier.

Microsoft will remove all visual links to Internet Explorer from Windows 10 with the June update. That means you will no longer see the IE logo on the taskbar or the Start menu.

Microsoft has been phasing out Internet Explorer before. In June of this year, the browser was removed from all editions of Windows except Windows 10 LTSC, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server.

By the way, Microsoft has been using Internet Explorer for almost 30 years - since 1995.
