South Korea buys 10 KAI LAH light attack helicopters, contract worth $235,000,000

South Korea's Defense Acquisition Agency DAPA has signed a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to manufacture and supply LAH (Light Armed Helicopter) helicopters.

Here's What We Know

We are talking about the first batch of 10 helicopters. The contract amount is about $235,000,000. In addition to helicopters, the contract also includes logistics, initial pilot training and maintenance. The contract timeframe is 36 months. The first deliveries will begin in 2024.

Flashback

The LAH (Light Armed Helicopter) is a compact twin-screw attack helicopter made by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in collaboration with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Helicopters. Development of the helicopter began in 2015. It made its first flight in 2019.
