Not just CV90 BMPs: Sweden will transfer Archer self-propelled artillery units to Ukraine
In addition to the CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, Sweden will also hand over Archer self-propelled artillery units to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Here's What We Know
This was announced by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. He did not disclose the number of the SAUs, but previously it was said about 12 units. More information about the deliveries should be announced after the Ramstein meeting tomorrow, January 20.
Archer is a modern Swedish 155mm self-propelled artillery unit based on a Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries and bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. The SAU is operated by 3-4 people. It is capable of engaging targets at ranges up to 60 km (with Excalibur rounds). In 3.5 minutes Archer can fire over 21 rounds.
