Microsoft will update the design and add some new functionality to Windows 11's Explorer

It has been reported that Microsoft is working on a major update to Windows Explorer that will change its design and bring new features, such as deeper integration with Microsoft 365 and OneDrive.

In the leaked mockups, we can see a redesigned header and an updated search box with a new home button. The Explorer home page also includes deeper integration with Microsoft 365, which now lists large thumbnails of documents that contain items related to meetings, downloads, and comments from colleagues.

UI changes are not significant and are mainly focused on the general design features of Windows 11 with rounded edges and more comfortable touch elements. The Explorer hasn't seen any radical changes since Windows 8, and the last major update to its functionality was in October, when tab support was added.

It is also known that Microsoft is working on a tagging system, as implemented in the Finder on macOS, and a new gallery area that will give you a quick overview of all the photos on the device.
