Microsoft is not closing the Xbox 360 Marketplace, acceptance is still open

Microsoft is not going to close the Xbox 360 Marketplace yet, despite its own statement on the official Xbox support page.

Here's What We Know

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that on 7 February, it will remove many of its players' favourite games from the Xbox 360 store. It's a bit sad, but thanks to a tweet from Wario64, we learned that the text on the official support page says that the company plans to close the Xbox 360 Marketplace within the next year and it encourages users to buy any 360 games or DLC as soon as possible before May 2023.

According to Xbox's global product marketing manager, Bree Adams, the message was a mistake:

"This message was posted in error and we can confirm the Xbox 360 marketplace will not close in May 2023, Adams said in a statement. As a reminder, beginning on February 7, 2023, a limited set of games, add-ons, and in-game content will no longer be purchasable in select markets via the Xbox 360 Store. "

However, even rumours of closure mean that we can still expect news of the store's permanent closure soon and you will have to find another way to play these games.
