Lithuania transfers 36 Swedish L70 anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine, to be used to destroy Iranian Shahed-136 drones

We have written more than once that Lithuania plans to send L70 anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine. Information about the number of systems has now appeared on the internet.

Here's What We Know

According to Lithuanian Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas, the Armed Forces will receive 36 anti-aircraft systems. The minister disclosed this during his visit to Ukraine on February 9. Lithuania is already training Ukrainian instructors in their use. Deliveries of anti-aircraft systems will begin in the near future.

Flashback

The L70 is a 40mm multi-purpose automatic gun developed by the Swedish company AB Bofors (now BAE Systems Bofors) in the 1940s. It entered service in 1952. The anti-aircraft system boasts an electro-hydraulic drive and the ability to engage air targets at distances of up to 12.5km. Ukraine plans to use the launcher against Iranian Shahed-136 drones.
