Apple patents original Apple Watch strap that can change colour and display notifications

A new Apple patent reveals that the company is working on a unique strap for the Apple Watch.

Here's What We Know

This is a universal strap that is capable of changing colours. This way, the user won't have to buy multiple straps of different colours to change them depending on style, clothing and mood.

For this, the company wants to use an electrochromic coating that will change colour under the influence of an electric current. And since the strap elements can be positioned and controlled independently of each other, they will also be able to display incoming notifications, including text messages. It looks like it would be something like a ticker on a smartwatch strap.

The idea is quite interesting, but so far it's only a patent. Whether Apple will be able to bring this idea to life is unknown.
