Samsung Galaxy Ultra flagships spoof images of the moon in Space Zoom mode

Since the release of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung has been actively promoting its Space Zoom mode for taking pictures of the moon. However, a Reddit user has revealed that the manufacturer is "faking" images of the moon to make them look more colourful and realistic.

Details

As part of his "investigation", the user took a regular image of the moon from the internet, reduced it to a size of 170×170 pixels and opened it on another device. But he did not stop there either: he enlarged the picture to make it blurry and turned off the lights in the room. He then snapped the photo on his Samsung smartphone in Space Zoom mode.

As a result, the flagship didn't produce a blurry photo, but a high-quality, detailed shot.

As it turns out, Samsung uses artificial intelligence, which finishes the details. This neural network was trained on a large number of photos of the moon - from the full moon to the crescent moon. It is therefore able to add elements that the camera sensor can't pick up.

On the one hand, the commercials don't mention it, but on the other hand, Samsung said as recently as last year that it was using AI to enhance the detail of lunar photos. Do you think this could be considered cheating and falsification?
