Some Apple Watches have gone 'green' after updating to watchOS 9.5

Last week, owners of the Apple Watch received a new version of the firmware with the build number watchOS 9.5. Since then, however, some of them have had problems with the screen.

Details

After the update, a strange green tint appeared on the displays of some watches. It is visible on the password entry screen, when accessing the Control Center and when receiving notifications. Some users have suggested that Apple has deliberately added this shade. But this is unlikely, as it looks out of place: one user described it as a "fuzzy LCD screen" rather than the pure black OLED he's used to seeing on his watch.

Judging by the complaints on Reddit and the MacRumors forums, the problem has affected almost all models. It appears less often on the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra, more often on the Apple Watch Series 8 and older devices.

It's not yet clear exactly what happened, but it's likely a bug in the hardware. This has happened before with the iPhone, at which point Apple solved the problem with an update. The manufacturer will probably "fix" the Apple Watch with the next watchOS update.
