Historic achievement - Atlas C.1 makes a 22-hour flight from the UK to Guam with three mid-air refuellings

The Royal British Air Force announced the historic achievement of the Atlas C.1 transport aircraft. It made a record flight to the island of Guam.

Here's What We Know

An exercise involving the UK, Australia, Canada, France and New Zealand is taking place in the Indo-Pacific region. The Atlas C.1 took off from Brize Norton and flew a 22-hour flight over the Atlantic, North America, and the Pacific Ocean.

During the flight, the transport plane had to be refuelled three times. The first refueling took place over the Atlantic Ocean, courtesy of the British Royal Air Force's Voyager tanker. Two more refuelling missions were carried out by the Voyager, which took off from a US base in Alaska.

Participation in the exercise demonstrates the UK's commitment to regional stability. The aim of the event is for countries to improve joint working skills and interoperability.
