The US Air Force has ordered up to six Archer Aviation Midnight electric air taxis at a cost of $142 million

Archer Aviation has been awarded a contract to manufacture and supply electric air taxis for the US Air Force. It is about Midnight model with vertical takeoff and landing.

The contract is valued at $142 million. The agreement calls for the delivery of up to six air taxis and includes testing and certification, pilot training and maintenance of the electric aircraft.

The historic deal reflects the armed forces' unwavering commitment to utilising the advanced technology offered by Midnight Air Taxis. Archer Aviation CEO and founder Adam Goldstein said.

Archer Midnight can carry up to five people, including the pilot. The air taxi has a maximum speed of 240 kilometres per hour and a range of 160 kilometres without recharging. The civilian version of the aircraft is optimised for 30km flights with a charging period of 10 minutes.
