Hackers managed to crack the PlayStation 4 protection

Following the Nintendo Switch, hacked into the PlayStation 4, where you can now run pirated games and third-party software.

What is known

Hackers learned to enter the console file system, put Linux on it and unofficial firmware PS4HEN. Now they have all the necessary tools for creating pirated copies of games with a subsequent launch on the console.

Also with the new firmware PS4 learned how to play games with the PlayStation 2. Yes, in the PlayStation Store there are already some games available with PS2, but we are talking about an unlimited number of titles. Hackers note that they managed to run games that did not work on the PS3, like, for example, Klonoa 2.

Not everything is so smooth

Now, hacking works only on firmware not higher than 4.05, which was released in 2016. This is fraught with the fact that modern games will require 5.05, which was released in early 2018. Perhaps some games will be launched beyond the boot screen, but Destiny 2 does not want to run without an update 5.05.

Also there are problems with emulation of games from PlayStation 2. Because of the difference in resolution, graphic glitches and artefacts all happen, which hinders normal game.
