Google has released Android P Developer Preview 2

Yesterday, the annual conference for Google I / O 2018 developers began. The company devoted a lot of time talking about improving its services and applications, such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, Gboard, etc. But the most important announcement of the event was the next version of Android P Developer Preview 2 .

What's new

The Android Dashboard application was added to the system, which will count the time of interaction with the smartphone and applications. Users will see what they most often open and when. Using the App Timer function, you can set a usage limit. Still added the ability to disable all notifications. To do this, you can simply flip the smartphone screen down.

Next, probably the most important innovation was the completely redesigned menu of the latest launched applications and the presence of navigation gestures. Now one button for gestures will always be active on the screen, but the "Back" button will appear in the applications. Also, now all the applications in the "Last Running" section are scrolled horizontally.

Apart from all this, a lot of attention was paid to artificial intelligence. The menu will not show five frequently launched applications, and those that the smartphone thinks fit for you at a certain time. A special section of Adaptive Battery based on AI was added to the system. With it, the device can turn off the background processes of applications that you do not need in the near future.

When to expect

The update is already available for download. This time, thanks to Project Treble, Google released Android P not only for Pixel smartphones. Users of Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S , Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21 and Essential PH-1 can also try the firmware on their devices. Next week there will be a beta version for OnePlus 6 .
