Xiaomi's latest robot dog does backflips off a skateboard and costs $3,000

The first robo-dog was announced back in 2021 as an experimental project and caused mixed opinions. It was described as a not very successful, cheap copy of Spot from Boston Dynamics. Last summer, its second version, CyberDog 2, was unveiled. Various improvements were made to it and now the company showed this robot at the MWC exhibition.

Here's What We Know

The first improvements were noticeable externally. The new robot-dog has already become more similar to a real dog. The not very successful head of the first version was replaced with a more suitable one that has a resemblance to the head of a real animal.

At MWC, Xiaomi showed demos of these robots, where they performed not complicated tasks and resembled a more expensive Boston Dynamics robot. The robot can also flip, as seen in some of the adverts. It did not perform this particular task during the demonstration, although there is little doubt that it can do so.

Price & When We Can Expect It

CyberDog 2 can currently be purchased online for $3,000. That's almost double the price of its predecessor at $1,600. Xiaomi is positioning the system as a sort of home robot, albeit an exorbitantly expensive one. The video above also suggests that the robot dog could one day replace a real dog, thanks to its ability to talk.
