The creators of "Game of Thrones" have invited Barack Obama to make a cameo in their new project "3 Body Problem"

It has been reported that former US President Barack Obama could have starred in a David Benioff and DB Weiss series called 3 Body Problem, but declined the offer.

Here's What We Know

Benioff told USA Today that when he and co-showrunner Alexander Woo learned that Obama was a fan of Liu Cixi's science fiction novel "Three-Body Problem," which serves as the basis for the series, they wrote a letter to the former president offering to do a cameo.

Obama declined their offer for a cameo, writing, according to Benioff, an amusing response:

"In case there ever is a real alien invasion, I think I should probably save myself for that crisis".

"3 Body Problem" is the most ambitious project for Benioff and Wise since the completion of "Game of Thrones." Wise, in an interview with the BBC, expressed his admiration for the complexity of the book, and described it as a unique work, unlike anything else, and completely different from anything they had ever considered for a film adaptation. He also noted that the 3 Body Problem project is very different from working on Game of Thrones.

Series Overview

The series is about five Earth characters trying to protect the planet from an alien invasion.

The show's cast includes John Bradley, Benedict Wong, Liam Cunningham, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Jess Hong, Zene Tseng, Eiza González and Marlo Kelly.

When We Can Expect It

It will premiere on streaming platform Netflix on 21 March 2024.
