Apple sues former iOS engineer for disclosing confidential information about Vision Pro

Apple has filed a lawsuit against a former employee for leaking confidential information.

Here's What We Know

The lawsuit states that former iOS engineer Andrew Ode had access to confidential data through his work on battery performance optimisation.

Andrew Ode had active contact with journalists, which included more than 1,400 encrypted messages with a Wall Street Journal journalist and more than 10,000 text messages to another journalist. In addition, Ohd provided information on regulatory compliance strategies, the number of employees, and other hardware characteristics of the company's products.

The lawsuit states that Od denied his involvement in the leaks and tried to hide the evidence, including by deleting a significant amount of information from his device. However, during a second hearing, he admitted that he had passed confidential information to at least two journalists.

In a statement released afterwards, Apple said that the company is seeking damages, restitution of bonuses and stock options, and requires Oda not to disclose confidential information to third parties without the company's written consent. The engineer has reportedly been fired.
