Oman wants to buy French Rafale fighters

The Sultanate of Oman has expressed interest in the Rafale multi-role fighter aircraft manufactured by the French aerospace company Dassault.

The country plans to add French aircraft to its existing fleet of about 40 combat aircraft, including 12 Typhoon fighters and 22-25 F-16 fighters.

This replenishment will create a more powerful air coalition, which includes the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. In addition, the adoption of a new aircraft from an independent manufacturer will allow Oman to pursue a more independent policy, not limited to the interests of the United States, Britain and Germany.

The Rafale was first produced in 2001 and was immediately adopted by the French Air Force. The aircraft is equipped with advanced technologies, such as AESA radar, excellent manoeuvrability and high speed. The Rafale was developed primarily for air combat, ground attack, reconnaissance, and as part of a nuclear mission. It is known for its unique ability to carry a variety of weapons, including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles as well as bombs.
