Google Pixel 9 will get a new modem and satellite connectivity

The new Google Pixel 9 smartphone will use the latest Android 15 satellite technology. For this, Google Pixel 9 will use the new Exynos Modem 5400 modem along with the improved Tensor G4 chipset.

Here's What We Know

Satellite connectivity on the Google Pixel 9 will be supported at the hardware level. The Pixel 9 series will get a new Exynos Modem 5400, which will reportedly support satellite connectivity and will be faster as well as more power efficient compared to the previous Exynos 5300 modem used in the Tensor G2 and G3 chipsets.

With NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) support in the Exynos 5400 modem, the Pixel 9 series will be the first model to support native Android satellite implementation. Satellite connectivity will allow text messaging, but not calling. The first provider of the service will be T-Mobile.

The new modem will also have better stability thanks to updated software, according to the leak. The modem will be part of the new Tensor G4 chipset, which will first appear in the next-generation Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold series. The report also mentions the Pixel 5G tablet under development, which is also rumoured to use the new modem.

The Pixel 9 smartphone series is expected to be unveiled this autumn.
