Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron will be released in online cinemas on June 25

In the summer of 2023, the famous Studio Ghibli and cult Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki released The Boy and the Heron, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The film will be available in online cinemas this summer.

Here's What We Know

On 25 June, The Boy and the Heron will be available on AppleTV, Amazon Prime Video, and vudu.

There is also good news for fans of physical copies of films. You can pre-order the disc version of the anime, which will arrive on 9 July. You will have to pay $45 for it. Although there is a version in a regular box for $35 or $40 (4K). All possible options can be found at this link.

Flashback

Having lost his mother during the war, young Mahito moves to his family's estate in the countryside. There, a series of mysterious events leads him to a secluded ancient tower where a grey heron lives. When Mahito's stepmother disappears, he follows the grey heron to the tower and enters a fantasy world shared by the living and the dead. As he embarks on an epic journey with the heron as his guide, Mahito must uncover the secrets of this world and the truth about himself.
