Nothing Ear headphones get a transparency mode update

Nothing, known for its unique transparent design, has released a major update to its Ear headphones. This update significantly improves the transparency mode, allowing for more natural sounding external sounds. Users of the budget Ear (a) model will also be able to take advantage of this firmware update.

Here's What We Know

Last month, Nothing unveiled the latest generation of Ear headphones, as well as a new budget Ear (a) model in several colours. The more expensive model received Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC support, IP54 water resistance, and adaptive noise cancellation capable of eliminating up to 45dB of noise, a 5dB increase over the previous generation.

The firmware change log for firmware 1.0.1.43 mentions that the headphones now perform better when Transparency Mode is enabled, giving users a more natural reproduction of sounds from the outside world, as well as improved perception of their voice and the voices of others around them. The description of the changes also states that the update fixes audio stuttering issues, as well as improving the Bass Enhance mode for crisper sounding bass.

Nothing founder Carl Pei confirmed on his X page that buyers of the more affordable Ear (a) model won't be left out. The same update should improve the transparency mode on these mid-range headphones as well. Nothing's community page specifies that the company is releasing this update in phases to prevent any bugs and related issues that could arise during the update.
